A simple version that lets the melody sing.

The right hand keeps the main melody in the foreground while the left hand provides a steady accompaniment. The 6/8 time preserves the song’s gentle sway, and occasional fingerings help prepare several changes.

A tragic legend transformed into a song.

Released by Mecano on Entre el cielo y el suelo in 1986, the song unfolds its story through a restrained melody and constant motion. The arrangement preserves that narrative quality: the main line moves forward clearly while the accompaniment leaves room for every phrase to breathe.

Three ideas for practising it.

The indicated tempo is calm. Before putting the hands together, let the 6/8 pulse and the direction of the melody feel natural.

01

Think in two, not in six.

Group each bar into two large beats. Keep the left-hand dotted quarter notes steady and avoid giving every eighth note the same accent.

02

Let the right hand sing.

Give the melody more presence than the bass. Connect each motif in one continuous gesture and renew the weight at the start of the phrase, not on every note.

03

Prepare the sixteenth notes.

Isolate the fast groups and practise them with the suggested fingering. On the second page, prepare the accidentals in advance so the change of colour does not interrupt the pulse.

Take it to the piano.
