Entering after the rest.
The second stage works with an eighth-note rest on the strong part of the beat followed by an eighth note. Intervals reach a fourth, and the challenge is to preserve the inner pulse before playing.
Maintaining continuity through ties.
The third stage combines ties from a half note to an eighth note, from a quarter note to an eighth note, and between two eighth notes. Intervals reach a fifth, and the reading must preserve the subdivision even when there is no new attack.

Before you begin
Is this a method for learning piano from scratch?
No. It is intended for pianists who already know the basic location of notes and elementary note values and want to become more fluent readers.
What is the difference between a volume and a level?
The volume indicates the overall stage of the method and the musical vocabulary being introduced. Easy, Intermediate and Advanced are three degrees of difficulty within every chapter of the same volume.
How should I practise?
Open an unfamiliar page, observe the clef, position and pattern before playing, and reach the end without going back. Fluency grows through consistent practice.
Is this a repertoire book?
No. It is a workbook specifically designed for sight-reading practice. You can combine it with the pieces you normally study.
Do the paperback and Kindle editions contain the same exercises?

What does entering after the rest mean?
In the second stage, the eighth-note rest occupies the strong part of the beat and the sound comes afterwards. You must preserve the pulse internally before making the attack.
